Mission, Goals and Scope of Operations

South Shore Rowing Center (SSRC) Mission

The mission of the South Shore Rowing Center is to promote rowing as a form of outdoor activity for exercise, fitness and fun. the activities of the center include retail sales of rowing equipment, and selling lessons, outings, tours and vacations which is provided by South Shore Rowing Center.

South Shore Open Water Rowing (SSOWR) Mission

The mission of South Shore Open Water Rowing is to deliver educational programs, provide clinics, guide tours and serve as support staff for rowing vacations. SSOWR is the "on the water" arm of the South Shore Rowing Center. Instructors are "owner operators" who deliver success oriented programming for beginner, novice and intermediate scullers. Guides are also owners who are trained and impassioned to deliver the best experience possible.

The Overall Goal

The overall goal is to create awareness and stimulate trial of rowing as a sport. Our focus is on sculling in singles, doubles and quads. The sport of rowing is framed as a lifelong form of exercise which is included as part of an active, healthy lifestyle. Rowing is presented as appropriate for all ages and ability levels. Emphasis is placed on helping deconditioned persons become more active and healthy.
